Here we share cabinet care and maintenance tips brought to you by our friends at Shiloh Cabinetry

Basic cleaning

Wipe with a dampened, lint-free cotton cloth and promptly wipe dry. For removal of oil, grease, or daily spills, you may use a solution of mild soap and water, then promptly dry with a soft, lint-free cotton cloth. Avoid using a dishcloth or sponge to clean cabinet surfaces as it may contain remnants of harsh detergents that can harm the finish. Do not use ammonia-based cleaners, soaps with dye, abrasive cleaners, or self-polishing waxes (especially those that contain silicone). We recommend the use of a quality cleaner or polish, such as Guardsman® branded products. Revitalizing oils not recommended.

Humidity

Movement of the wood (expansion in humid conditions and contraction in dry air) is normal with wood cabinetry and not a defect. To reduce excessive movement, a properly controlled environment is necessary. In the summer months, this includes the use of air conditioning at typical levels. In the winter months, humidification systems are recommended to correspond with the drying effect of heating systems and dry winter air.

Wipe spills promptly

It is very important to keep the cabinet surfaces dry. Wipe up spills immediately using a dry cloth with a “blotting” motion, rather than wiping the spill from the cabinet surface. Pay special attention to areas where water is common, such as the sink and dishwasher, and do not allow water and detergents to dry on the cabinet surface.

Avoid excessive moisture

This is one of the worst enemies of any finish. Avoid draping wet towels over cabinet doors. Do not attach towel racks to door interiors and do not place coffee or tea makers where the steam will directly impact cabinet surfaces. Immediately dry off any areas where water has spilled.

Avoid excessive heat

Avoid placing cabinet appliances where the heat is directed onto cabinet surfaces. The stability of the wood and finish can be negatively impacted.

Avoid abrasives

Never use scouring pads, steel wool, or powdered cleaners as these methods of cleaning may penetrate the surface, allowing food or moisture to enter and cause deterioration of the finish.

Final thoughts

Wood products and their finish are only as good as the care they receive. Proper care such as we recommend will extend the life and beauty of your cabinetry. Remember, leaving water or other moisture on the cabinet surface for extended periods of time will harm the finish and will not be covered under any warranties.

from the day I walked into the showroom to the finish of the bathroom remodel, I couldn't have asked for more. The tear out went smooth and the team put up protective plastic all around to reduce the dust. The team was super polite and professional, and took care not to damage anything.The installation went great. Donnie was very exact and precise in each piece of tile that the grout lines are perfect. The Quartz countertop looks fantastic and they also put the recessed lighting on a dimmer switch. The glass enclosure just finished everything off perfectly, it also has a spot free coating which was a nice bonus.You cant go wrong with this company, they keep in touch, they are professional, and the job gets done right. Had talked to a couple of other companies about installing granite countertops as part of a remodeling of our kitchen. Wood Kitchen and Bath were so helpful and stayed right on top of the whole process. Installation was a breeze with the installers showing up right on time and their coordination of the plumber un-hooking and re-hooking up all the kitchen plumbing. In this day and age, it is hard to find a company that not only completes the job but does it well. Thank you! My countertops are beautiful!

This is an excellent company with high integrity. I would recommend them to anybody. They keep in contact with updates, help you stay within your budget, and deliver excellent quality!! Bid the work through 3 providers. Todd was not the least expensive but his professionalism, knowledge and grasp on our needs made him the obvious selection. From contract to final acceptance he was always available for consultation, communicated often and when there were changes required he provided clear options and best options. When we would put something that might not be realistic on the table he did not hesitate to push back. By having us pick our plumber and electrical contractor we had total control over the entire project. We are pleased beyond our expectations with the end result.read more

I called Todd Wood to inquire about a kitchen remodel, and he came out to my house the next day. My house was built in 2003 and needed some work. I wanted a contemporary style which is not common in this area. He measured the dimensions of the kitchen, and listened to my ideas, and added to them. We talked, and I went to his showroom to see samples of the proposed products. Todd had many creative ideas and helped me decide what I wanted. In addition, he gave me suggestions for my two bathrooms.We met in October, and I signed the papers, which were very complete, along with plans and changes. Todd spent many hours with me and was exceedingly helpful and creative. He ordered the materials and said they would come in one month. One month to the day, the cabinets and materials were delivered. No delays! The materials are quality and are American made. The tear out of existing structures took one-and-half days, and they installation of the new cabinets began immediately. From start to finish, the project took three weeks. His crew was accommodating and very professional. With Todd's help, we coordinated the delivery of appliances, the plumber, and the electrician. There were no glitches, and everything went along as planned. I want to recommend Todd Wood for his professionalism. I told him I was going to need some hand holding during this project, and he was there with answers to all my questions. If I called him, he picked up the phone, or called me back within the day. He was very responsive, and the timelines were met with no delays.read more

After moving to Florida and hearing the horror stories about contractors and remodelers in the area I spent a good bit of time researching them. BBB reviews, contractor reviews such as Angie's list. houzz, ect.And one name seemed to jump out, Todd Wood. We could not of made a better choice , Todd made our dream kitchen into a reality .

Wood Kitchen and BathAfter a flood in my home I had to replace my kitchen. I am so thankful that I chose Todd Wood as my contractor. I call him a contractor because he does FAR more that just sell cabinets.He took me down to Orlando to the granite warehouses to view vast choices of spectacular granite in all price ranges. After my choice he arranged for perhaps the best granite cutters around to do my counter tops. When those tops arrived at my home, so did Todd and he stayed all day as I was out of town. He would keep me updated throughout the day. Each counter is cut without seams. It is stunning work.The cabinets that I chose and the design Todd created work perfectly. Todd is a master kitchen designer as he has been in the business most of his life. He is patient and certainly willing to go the extra mile to make sure the project is to the customer’s liking.When the big box DIY store where I bought all of my new appliances could not recommend or find me someone who could convert my new gas stove to propane Todd took it upon himself to do just that. More than once he’d stop by to see how construction was progressing. He is truly a caring contractor. Todd Wood with Wood Kitchen and Bath designed and installed the kitchen you see in the attached photos. The final project is beautiful and the project itself turned out to be a great experience due primarily to Todd’s patience, design skills, knowledge, communication and commitment to his customer’s satisfaction. Our previous kitchen was destroyed due to a water leak and subsequent flood. Todd spent many hours with us determining our needs and creating updates and modernization to the new design that far exceeded our expectations. Our project finished on time and within budget.
